Have a 2010 Mini Cooper issuing 2856 and 285A fault codes on a scanner and they are showing descriptions "Valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor guide" and "Valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor reference" respectively. I would assume engine timing is off. Any ideas? I would check spark, fuel and compression on all cylinders. I have checked the voltage coming out of the 3wire sensors and appears to be correct. Any ideas on what the fix would be? If we get a chance to perform the procedure, we will be sure to document it. Hi Nick. The shop wants to replace the valvetronic motor - but since the extreme cold the engine has worked fine with no fault codes. Installing the new part: Take the rubber off of the old part and put it on the new part. The fault is recognized when the pressure level in the high-pressure system is 3.5 bar lower than the specified value. Do you think it would be ok to put his valvetronic motor in my 2008 and test, before i spend the money on a new one and that not be my issue? The actuator motor is installed at the top of the valve cover. I would check spark, fuel and compression on all cylinders. I have an 11 R56 which I had the top end apart.
